Data Breach Basics

How can we protect our digital identities when security threats occur?

Today's students live increasingly digital lives—but do they know what to do when their accounts get hacked or personal information is exposed? This lesson puts students in real-world cybersecurity scenarios they're likely to encounter. Through collaborative problem-solving, students will learn to spot warning signs of compromised accounts, understand the difference between targeted hacks and larger data breaches, and develop practical response strategies when security incidents happen. Give students concrete strategies to protect their digital identities in an age when personal information has never been more valuable—or more vulnerable.
