How I Use It
I teach 6th grade at Southern Heights in Highline Public Schools. My students use Think Through Math every day during the blended technology block. During this time, I can work with individual students or a small group of students because my students can be self-directed when learning on Think Through Math. This program allows me to differentiate math instruction and learning in my classroom, a model our district is moving towards. Additionally, I have created pathways that align with the math content we are learning during our whole group instruction. This is beneficial because students can continue to practice the content we have learned in class and learn the standards more deeply.
I love Think Through Math. The features I appreciate are the pre-quizzes that allow students to test out of content they already know, the help tips and live teacher support, and the problem-solving activities. I also appreciate that the questions are formatted similarly to standardized tests, and that students have to show their work in their notebooks. I can access reports immediately to track student progress and plan for how I will meet the needs of students who are not meeting the math standards. The program is also motivational, as my students can work towards classroom goals and gain points to donate to charity or to use at the Avatar store.
