How I Use It
I use this instead of having students turn in work. They simply share their assignments with me. Another way I use it is when I know I'm going to be gone for a day. I simply share a document with my students with their instructions for that class period. They can create a document to share back with me after reading my instructions. It saves everything automatically so kids never lose their work. I don't have to cart home a bunch of papers or notebooks, I can access all their work on Drive. Early in the year I have students create a shared folder with me and they know that if they put their work in it, I'll be able to see and grade it, even leaving comments on it for them to read. It's been a great tool for us!
My Take
Google Drive is a great collaborating and creation tool. My students can create a document, spreadsheet or drawing and share it with other students who can add their input. They can then share it with me and I can make comments and grade it. Google Drive also helps keep me connected to my students when I can't be in the classroom or when they miss a day. We can share things easily as long as we're able to use the internet. The one thing Google Drive is missing, however, is options more like Microsoft Publisher. Adding those would improve the amount of work my class could get done using it.
