How I Use It
Since students can work on this independently there are numerous applications for it. It does require a fair amount of reading and comprehension, so students may need assistance. I would use this after the lesson has been taught as a supplemental reinforcement of lessons. Students can progress at their own level. It keeps them focused on the activity and content at hand. This is also a good activity for them to do after they are done typing a paper in the computer lab. It's educational and fun. If students in a class are within the same ability range, there could also be added an element of competition, so students stay focused to get the most "points".
My Take
The directions aren't entirely clear or evident. (As I went through it, there were things I wasn't sure how/what to do.) But, the students are also learning to independently read and follow directions. It attaches learning to something students enjoy and makes learning fun. Engagement would be high and students would collaborate to discus what they did to get to the next "level". I love that it is aligned to a specific content and has resources attached to it. Overall, very impressed.
