How I Use It
I use Zaption to provide students with short videos to enhance our curriculum. Rather than just showing a video, as I have done in the past, I use the features of Zaption to get students to think critically about the video's content and provide feedback about their understanding in the form of either multiple choice or short answer questions. I can access student data from a teacher dashboard and check for understanding. Since students are being held accountable as they watch, and the questions come at frequent intervals, they are more focused and remain engaged. I am using the free version.
Zaption is a fantastic way to prevent students from "zoning out" while watching a video. Students see the video as an important learning media, just like a book or whiteboard lesson. I would like it if there were pre-created video lessons for younger students (I teach 2nd grade)--the ones I have viewed at the high school level are excellent.
