How I Use It
I use it daily in the computer lab. Students do a full session. I look at the final report at the end of the day and reward students who show growth. Even though this program doesn't have a lot of graphics, isn't as visually engaging as other apps and game, it serves its purpose of doing facts practice quickly without the distraction of a lot of colors and fancy graphics. I am a true believer in this program.
I think xtramath is great for facts practice. I have my students do a sessions of XM daily. I also encourage students to do a sessions at home. Sessions are timed so students are practicing facts quickly and for accuracy. Students can get frustrated with the program if they can't "beat the teacher" or don't see growth. I am a little confused as to how students earn green, yellow or blue dots. I reward students who get green dots but have a hard time understanding why a students who has the same number of correct answers or more correct answers than the previous day doesn't always show growth.
