How I Use It
After studying character trait vocabulary, I have my students create a Wordle using the character trait vocabulary that describes characters in our novel. Creating a Wordle facilitates a discussion about which of the characters are flat and are represented by words that are all synonyms, and which characters are more developed and can be described with many different traits. We discuss which words we would like to be very visible in the final Wordle and then type those words several times. I have also used Wordles to introduce character trait vocabulary, during those lessons, students create Wordles about themselves. This activity is a great way to a student's self-image, or self-perception.
My Take
I love this tool! I think it can be used in a myriad of ways! One caveat: I tried to use the iPad to create Wordles with my students and we were not able to see the final product. I would recommend a test run before your students are disappointed.
