How I Use It
I have used Wordle across grades and curriculum. Students have written book reviews, biographies, analyzed primary documents by cutting and pasting to see which words appear more frequently, and identified important events in history. The word clouds can easily be completed in one class period and printed or saved as a screen shot. Students are fascinated by their creations.
My Take
Wordle is an easy to use word cloud creator, accessible for students in grades 2 and up. A great addition to your teacher toolbox that could be used in any subject area. Wordle promotes critical thinking when students use it to analyze texts or summarize reading. A choice of fonts, layouts and color palettes allows for some creative choice. Wordle lacks the ability to save as an image, but a quick lesson in screen capture solves the problem.
