How I Use It
I use it within my classroom. Students did not need e-mails. I simply set up the account for them and they designed a webpage for a fake business. They enjoyed it. In my multimedia class, students have to build a website for a fake business. They use weebly in seconds. I do not have to show them much of a model because it is very self explainable. The only thing I had to do beforehand was create their accounts. Once I did that students could log on in seconds and start building. Students have to put in a google map, various website links, pictures, descriptions, etc... not one student had a difficult time doing any of these things with weebly. They also had to embed a youtube video. Which is also very easy with weebly's "drag and drop" format. If you want a youtube video all you have to do is click on the youtube box on the left hand screen and drop it into the page you want. After that you just need the URL. Easy as pie! I have used Wordpress, Google Sites, HTML coding, etc.. in the past and this is by far the easiest site to use. I would highly recommend it to teachers who want a classroom website (because it is free :)) and to anyone who teaches web design.
My Take
Students in my multimedia class really were not sure at first about building webpages. But weebly makes them all "web builders" in a few minutes. They were all surprised about what they could build! You do not have to know "website codes" at all. High Ability Learners to my SPED kiddos were all able to easily use this product. All you had to do was "drag and drop" if you wanted to upload a picture on a page or if you wanted to put a small description on your page.
