How I Use It
In the K-Gr.2 grades, Voice Thread is an excellent way for teachers to create multimedia slideshows and record the voice of their students.We used this for digital storytelling and sharing our learning with parents and other members of our learning community.In Grade 3 and above, students created their own Voice Thread presentations using a variety of text, graphics, slides, video, docs like PDF's and voice recordings. The versatility of this application for curation makes it a powerful site for students. The most vital application is the ability to share and collaborate. One students begins a project and others can comment and build upon it (at owners discretion) which helps presentation to be increasing interactive and engaging. This site can be accessed through computers, tablets or smartphones. (The portable nature of the latter two makes this product even more useful in the classroom.
My Take
Voice Thread is an amazing resource for making presentations and information sharing through enhanced collaboration.Students can build upon the research, thinking and creations on peers in a powerful manner. In practice, the version on the desktop is most stable and the iOS app has some bugs related to connectivity and syncing. Although, the mobile platform provides a superior opportunity to leverage this app in the hustle and bustle on the classroom for anytime learning and teachable moments.
