Just in time for back-to-school: New distance learning resources are available on Wide Open School.
Enhance classroom discussion with a multimedia discussion forum
How I Use It
I used Voicethread as an assignment for students.
I posted a PowerPoint presentation and recorded my "lecture" on a Webcam (easy to do in VoiceThread).
I asked students to add comments to each slide.
Once all the students provided their comments they were asked to review the presentation with all comments.
Students loved the multimedia that is available to add comments to presentations in VoiceThread.
They also liked that it was a different way to discuss and collaborate outside of the classroom.
This tool is great for collaboration and discussion.
Students can engage in a presentation by adding a webcam video or audio to the presentation.
A teacher can create a PowerPoint presentation with video or audio and assign students to add comments by webcam or audio to provide discussion about each slide.
Students can also see what other students are posting that helps lead the discussion.
