How I Use It
When I tried Vocabulary City, I just had my students try the grade level games. I was worried they would not like it because the whole 'feel' of the site is very elementary school. Even though there are definitely targeted word lists for older students, they were not interested, so I did not set up class lists.
My Take
My low rating is more about the suitability of the site to older students. It's actually quite full-featured. I tried Vocabulary City, but my students (middle school) found it to be too 'young'. I could see this being a good site for building vocabulary skills and reading comprehension with elementary school students.
