How I Use It
This application was implemented as a supplementary resource for novice-level English learners in my program. My team had the membership of this application, which allowed us to customize vocabulary lists used in multiple exercises in the application. I imported vocabulary lists from units in the reading textbook. After teaching a specific unit, I told my students to complete at least three exercises in this application as homework by next class. I had vocabulary quizzes at the beginning of my every lessons, so this application was a useful tool to review vocabulary. In addition to customize exercises, this application generates handwriting worksheets, which helped my students improve writing skills.
My Take
Overall, this application reflects directed technology integration strategies that focuses on individual instruction and exercises. This application helps learners acquire prerequisite skills for higher-level learning in the future. For English language learners, one of the essential prerequisite skills is vocabulary, so the drill-and-practice structure remedies such skill deficit. In addition, the application membership allows educators customize exercises tailored to students’ needs. Various exercises available in this application supports self-paced learning as well.
