How I Use It
I use this in my classroom during our 15 minute reading rotations. The kids spend 15 minutes twice a week practicing their spelling words using the different games available on the free version of Spelling City. Now that we're within a few weeks of the school year finishing, I think they are getting a little tired of the program, but they have been more or less excited to use it all year.
My Take
I think this is overall a good teaching tool. I feel like sometimes there aren't many quality spelling websites/apps available, and this is one of the better ones around. Other teachers have commented that it is repetitive and focuses on memorization. I agree with that! But when it comes to spelling, it usually comes down to a little memorization, right? I think Spelling City is a pretty fun way to approach a maybe not-so-fun subject.
