How I Use It
Several teachers I work with use this during the 15 minute reading block at the beginning of class. The class then dives into a discussion about the articles read. We also have an online elementary newspaper which reads these articles to gain an understanding of good article structure and setup. Tween could also be used for those students who struggle with a "like" of reading. I will go the extra mile to foster the love of reading in a child. Tween Tribune is sometimes the golden nugget that students have been wanting to find.
My Take
This tool is wonderful for students who love to read as well as those who struggle with reading. There is a tribune for grades K-4, 5-8 and 9-12. These are leveled current events online news articles. Relevancy is the key! TweenTribune has captured the relevancy aspect of education. Students most likely will not read the New York Times but when they love to read Tween Tribune.
