How I Use It
Tinkercad is a great introduction to 3d creation and learning 3d modeling. When students are given an object to model first in Tinkercad, they do well. After an introduction on how to use the program I get them free to create an object in science or math. The program was easy for them to comprehend and use. I had little to no knowledge of the program before we started and quickly the skills of my students exceeded mine. My students used the program the entire year and often asked to complete a project using the program. I upped the anti by having a 3d printer where the students could actually print their creation.
This is a great started and go to program for students to learn prior to using a program like AutoCad. It was easy for all levels of students to pick up and complete. I liked that they could explore and create with little frustration. I was able to identify the students who really caught on quickly and made them the TinkerCad Ninjas who would teach me and the class skills and techniques. I found often that students wanted to use this program for projects- or even just at home for fun. They really gained creativity, confidence, and produced amazing things.
