How I Use It
I love this! It works great with students that have mastered the 3rd grade curriculum and would like to learn higher level skills at their own pace. It also builds foundation skills for those performing on grade -level that need extra practice. I also use it for morning tutorials with students performing below grade level. We work on the problems together. Finally, the students are expected to do it at home as well for homework.
I created Think clubs to keep the motivation and competition going throughout the school year. For example, Think 30 students receive a certificate on the classroom wall and 100 free tickets and 1 free privilege. So far, I have 1 student at Think 270 with privileges doubling in size!! I've had a lot of lunch bunch dates this school year with my high-achievement students.
This has allowed me to create individualized instruction that meets the needs to all of my students. I wish that it would appeal to the lower level - struggling learners. For example, they can watch a video of a similar problem being solved with that strategy. Visual and auditory learning styles help the struggling students. Or allow- for touch screen options where the students have to show their thinking on the screen. Interactive chat room where they can talk to their classmates or others in the district. My students and I LOVE TTM! Thank you for making such a difference in the school year.
