How I Use It
I assigned all my students the grade level pathway & test prep pathway to work on while I pull small groups after my whole group instruction. This way every student gets individualized instruction. The program remediates, guides, or enriches what skills they need, without any extra effort from me!
They all take a placement test & there are pre-quizes for each lesson. This way they can easily skip the lessons they don't need. My students all know to ask the online teacher/coach first if they are stumped, then the math "experts" in the room. Finally, if they still need help they can ask me between my intervention groups. I rarely need to help them, the first step is usually enough.
I check in everyday on where my kids are on the TTM teacher home screen by reading through the activity feed. I comment on failed lessons with advice & give stars and compliments on passed lessons. This takes less than 10 minutes a day. My students know I am tracking them and checking in. I even used the activity feed to keep an eye on my class while I was out with the flu for a week. The kids loved it. It's really pushed their abilities to solve math word problems without me having to run test prep.
I love this program! Any program that can provide individualized instruction for my 35 5th graders, with as little work on my end as possible, helps me out. I also like that each child is working while I pull Math intervention groups, & there is accountability, but I don't have to grade anything.
