How I Use It
It has been a great tool for rigor for the Common Core State Standards. This product automatically differentiates instruction for my students. Many of my students log on at home and some parents like the fact that a tutor is available to assist their child with the application process. I like this because it aids in the idea of a collective effort can produce great rewards. I use this product to drive my instruction of small group instruction. Upon my request, I get a weekly report sent to my email account and over the weekend I am able to group kids based upon the standard of those still struggling with content. I also able to provided whole group instruction via Lesson Explorer. In this mode, questions are generated based on the domain/ standard and I can see the format used for the actual assessment of my students .
All students were also placed on 5th grade level, however, students who were in Special Ed or 504 students had the most difficult with passing the lessons. This year I chose to place those students on 3rd, therefore the content started off with a warm-up instead of a Pre-Quiz. They are more confident and willing to work diligently to complete a lesson.
This is an excellent teaching tool if you are an educator who likes to explore through the site on your own. I only received one workshop training, but I did call several times to the workshop presenter. I like the generated reports, the ability to message students individually and whole group, the display of the class goal and the leaders of lessons passed in the school, parish and state. This product has served me in many ways. Just to name a few: classroom motivations, weekly reports by standards and allowing me to explore as an impersonator through any domain of math.
