How I Use It
I use this product in my classroom to enhance my mathematics instruction. Students use the tool hand in hand with our daily math instruction. Students are placed on individual pathways at their ability level and work at their own speed to complete lessons and learn content. This works best in the classroom for individual time but also is a great tool for at home work. Due to the complexity of the content I suggest not using this for more than 45 minutes in one sitting as well as making sure students utilize the live teacher support when they are struggling.
My Take
As a teaching tool this product helps students learn in a variety of ways. It's engaging because it has games which help them to get hooked into the content. Once they are fluent with the basic skills the lessons progress further into real world problems where kids must decipher and model the work they are doing. I appreciate most the problem solving lessons where it breaks down one problem into several different parts so students know how to solve a complex problem. The only problem with this is that the problem solving requires that students build an equation using parts of the problem and if the parts aren't put exactly into the order the program wants, students get marked wrong and they get quickly frustrated with this.
