How I Use It
Students at Galm Elementary in Northside ISD love getting on Think Through Math as part of their guided math stations and even at home for extra practice. When students are logged on, they are engaged in pre-lesson activities like math games to get them thinking about the concepts. They are then led through pre-quizzes, guided learning, independent practice, and post-quizzes on Texas standards specific to their pathway. Students are given remediation or enrichment based on their performance. The students love earning points while they work to spend on avatars and class goals.
My Take
This program is helpful to motivate reluctant learners because it's set up like a game. Students earn the most points if they pay attention to their work, so they are willing to put forth the effort. The data collection piece is helpful for teachers to monitor progress, and the accessibility of the program is great because parents can see what their child is working on at home. Super easy for all teachers to use.
