How I Use It
This website is a wealth of resources for lesson planning in social studies. There are many creative ideas to take your social studies curriculum to the next level of engagement and thoughtfulness. The lesson I tested involved rethinking a study of biographies, taking this traditional topic from looking at fact tidbits to thinking about historical context and social change. Lesson plan linked to a list of recommended picture book biographies, many of which are relevant to the topics covered in 5th grade social studies (revolutionary war).
My Take
I will definitely continue to use this resource to develop my social studies lesson plans. My students love the engagement that these lessons offer instead of listening to me "lecture" or read aloud from the textbook.
