How I Use It
As an Instructional Technology Specialist, I have tried to spread the news that Twitter is a great tool for student learning, as well as a virtual Professional Learning Network (VPN) for teachers. However, some are reluctant to use it in their classrooms because they don't think it's user-friendly or safe. I really tagboard to address both of those concerns. For instance, a literature teacher at one of my schools has her students live tweet in response to lessons she's doing in her class. However, those tweets can get lost in the twitter feed. Just by going to the tagboard and searching the hashtag she has provided her students in advance, she would be able to view all those tweets in one place with much more screen real estate as well for easy viewing and grading.
Though twitter legally can only be used with students thirteen and above, tagboard would be a great place for them to see content that they and their peers have created or responded to via twitter. I can see it being a much more engaging tool (because they love twitter) than any other place where they could read each other's responses. I will not hesitate to recommend this to teachers I encounter in training.
