How I Use It
In our Problem Based Learning classroom there are often times we need to ask students to locate pertinent information. We can direct them to Sparticl, which gives them one site to search and browse for results. I work with 7th and 8th grade students, many of whom are under 13, so we can't take part in the social aspects of the site, but the resources and cataloguing are very helpful in themselves.
Sparticl has a very broad selection of resources, providing an excellent platform to encourage good student research. The site is particularly helpful for those students whose research skills aren't well developed. The search function is wonderful, with easy-to-use filters and a broad range of topics and types of results. Just having Sparticl to restrict their search saves time and allows students to refine their research more efficiently. My only request is for a reading / academic level designation. That would help me help students.
