How I Use It
Tikatok is a web2.0 interactive tool powered by Pearson and designed to skill students from k-12 with use of technology. I generally use Tikatok at the end of my Social Studies chapters. Students choose or design their own ebook, select adequately pictures and video to match with the content of a taught chapter. This gives the opportunity to students to review the chapter, to reinforce the concepts, share skills of uploading pictures and videos, develop their creativity , and at the same practice writing in French. Yes, my school is a French Immersion where instructions are in French from K -8.
My Take
I have been using Tikatok for more than four years. At the beginning of the Social Studies Class, every year, I introduce the tool to my students and I clearly explain to them my expectations. During each lesson of the chapter I can see the enthusiasm, their motivation to create an exciting ebook. In this activity, students work cooperatively, build trust and promote open communication, create and innovate, think critically, learn collaboratively, help each other. They present either in group or individually their project to the class . I sincerely think that Tikatok is an useful and insightful tool to prepare our student for their generation.
