How I Use It
I have used it to teach order of operation, and code with my students. Scratch is a great tool for breaking down ALL of the items that need to occur to make an image move. I then lead in from Scratch to using real Java Code, and the order of operations still stay the same, you need to be specific, and in proper order.
I have used scratch before, and still really enjoy it's capabilities. Scratch is an animation program that teaches students (in a round about way) Coding. The graphics User Interface is very straight forward, the options students have to make their own creations, and the amount of fun they have using Scratch is phenomenal. Students have made simple walking animations, Games that they play together and against one another, videos, PSA's and more. Simple to import files/photos/sounds, Deep enough to get complex orders of operation and functions, but yet simple enough elementary through High School students use it.
