How I Use It
I have used Schoology for the past 3 years in both my InfoTech classes and also as a technology trainer for my district. We have created Schoology courses for students' academic courses, clubs, faculty, and teacher PD. I love how easy it is to navigate and personalize to fit the individual teacher or students' needs. Teachers can make their Schoology courses as simple or complex as possible and it is still an effective tool.
In the classroom, my favorite features of Schoology are the self grading assessments, discussion boards, and media albums so students can post and comment on each other's projects! The nature of the LMS also allows it so that when a student or teacher is not present in the classroom they can still participate in class discussion and activities!
Teacher/student messaging is another way to expand the learning outside the four walls of the classroom. Our students do not have district email so this is a secure way for them to connect with teachers, coaches, and club advisors.
Overall, I think any school looking to begin a digital conversion should consider Schoology as a LMS! The ability to build courses and save and share resources has been so helpful with encouraging our faculty to take on and use Schoology. I have used and tried out many other LMS and I have yet to use one that worked as seamlessly with our machines and district than Schoology!
