How I Use It
I use Schoology daily in my classroom. My students access all our course content online including presentations, videos, quizzes, and assignments. I am able to design it so they can work at their own pace and even provide alternative assignments with specific accommodations for students in Special Education. No one other than me knows they have an alternative assignment or assessment.
I have used a wide range of LMSs in my classroom, and Schoology is by far the most student and teacher friendly one I have encountered. It's very easy for teachers to get started using; however, it's robust enough for teachers that want to create a blended or flipped classroom. Having all my course content available on Schoology allows my students access to it 24/7. The students are now having to be more accountable for their work. They can no longer use the excuse, "my dog ate my homework" because it's all online.
Schoology also helps me be a better teacher because I can provide more accurate and detailed feedback on the work and assessments my students submit. When using rubrics on assignments, I can provide criteria-specific feedback. This is key to helping students understand how they can improve their work.
One of the best things about Schoology is they take feedback from their community of educators and use it to continually improve their platform.
