How I Use It
This site is good to get students entering into a discussion about issues that are relevant and important to them. Students can post a debate topic and others can respond to it with their expertise, opinions, or experience. It works well as an initial survey of a topic to determine whether or not it warrants further research based on the responses the topic receives. Also a good way to teach the difference between warranted arguments and unsubstantiated opinions.
My Take
This site has its place in the argument writing type for Common Core as a supplemental source for surveying the opinions of others. The drawback is that it is not protected and anyone can post. Students would need to learn to evaluate posts on their topics as to the usefulness of the information in supporting an argument.
