How I Use It
Many of the students and parents in our surrounding community speak Spanish or French. Remind is a great tool to communicate with them because of the ability to translate whatever you need to say into various languages. I use remind as a tool communicate important information with parents. I also use remind as a homework help for my students. They love the fact that they can "text me" to let me know when they don't understand part of the homework. I also run a cheerleading after school program. I use remind to let cheerleaders know when there is practice and what they need to do to prepare for practice.
I love this app. It is a great way to communicate with families. I love that I can communicate with non English speaking parents and children as well. I hope that this app helps keep the line of communication open with my students and their families. This helps them feel like a welcome part of my classroom community. One thing I wish was included was a way to connect students and their parents' names. For example when typing in names to add to a class it should have a space for parent name and student name. I've had to double check parent names on separate contact sheets to make sure I am talking to the right person.
