How I Use It
I have used this tool to keep students and parents updated and informed with information about upcoming assignments, projects, tests, events, field trips, deadlines, etc. Remind is a great way for a teacher to stay in constant contact with students and their parents. The nice thing about Remind is that students and parents can sign up to get alerts from the teacher sent via text message. A random number is generated to send out the alerts, thus keeping the teacher's contact information anonymous. Also, students and parents cannot respond to the alerts, therefore the teacher will not be flooded with additional messages. Both students and parents love Remind because it keeps them up-to-date with necessary information about the class/school.
My Take
Overall, this is a great tool to use to hold students accountable for upcoming deadlines. I really like how it does not use the teacher's real phone number. Additionally, it is very nice that parents can subscribe to get updates from the teacher as well. Remind is free to use, and the teacher can access it from any web browser. It is also an app that can be downloaded for a personal device. If you are looking for a tool to reinforce organization and accountability among your students, Remind is a must have!
