How I Use It
When talking about ICT tools in the classroom, one should consider Remind as part of the teaching arsenal with which we can engage students and establish meaningful and timely communication. The main advantage I see is its ability to send direct messages to kids and parents mobile phones in a fast and efficient way, not to mention free! It serves to send quick reminders, but the app has grown to let you attach documents and has evolved into a 2-way communication channel with control over the kind of responses you get from parents or kids. The support provided is robust with setup guides for teachers, students, and parents. Some of these guides are even in Spanish and other languages.
My Take
Very effective tool that comes in handy when communicating with students and parents in a quick, effective, and no-cost way. I particularly enjoy the response from students and how much they appreciate the reminders on their smartphones. It is alos nice to see how this app can be integrated into popular LMSs such as Schoology, Edmodo, or Blackboard.
