How I Use It
I use the ReflexMath program inside my classroom to help the students with their basic math facts. The students love it because it allows them to play games and create an avatar of themselves. They need to unlock the games and earn coins to better their avatar, which keeps the kids hooked and engaged. I use this product to help the students with their basic math facts. They do not even realize that they are practicing their facts as they are playing the game. I use this a couple of days a week and then the students can also access the program at home via the web. I have been using it for about a month now and am eager to see how it transitions into our classroom during math class.
My Take
I think that ReflexMath is a great tool to use in the classroom. It can be used by all types of students and is highly engaging (I have played it myself a few times even). The one major concern that I have is the pricing. I am currently on a grant to use the program and would be very interested in using it again, but the current price is way more then what my district can afford. It serves my teaching in an indirect manor by helping the students learn their basic math facts... once we get into the operations in math it will speed up the process for the students and help them gain the confidence that they need to be successful in math.
