How I Use It
This was my first year using Reasoning Mind. We did three 45 minute lessons per week. We discussed our goal each time. I watched the %A. If a student dropped below 80%, I pulled up a chair and sat beside the student. Once this student got back on track, I moved to the next student. I had a small class so this worked for me. Students had to earn their reward day (shopping, games, genie house, post office). I opened something new each month. Reward day was the last day of the month. Students with 5 or fewer skips in Genie solutions and topics earned reward day. If not, students continued with Guided Study. We discussed the Metrics Report and Objective Spreadsheet so students can see how they are doing. I gave bonus points for 100% on Notes Tests, double digit streaks, and writing down all problems in their notebooks.
My students and I loved it! I liked the different parts of RM. I liked having the notebook for students to write their answers and have to take notes. I liked the different ways students had to answer a problem (type, drag and drop, etc.) I encouraged my students to reach level B and level C problems - we discussed how to get there.. I'm looking forward to using it next year!
