How I Use It
I signed up and developed a Quizlet site so my students can review the vocabulary words from the chapter we are working on. My students can gain access to this program because Quizlet offers a free app for their phones. On the day of a test, as a warm up activity, the students go onto Quizlet and review the vocabulary terms by playing games or just looking at the terms. If a student doesn't have the app on their phone, I bring up the website on the overhead projector so they can participate in the warm up. Students that transfer to a new teacher after the trimester ends are still able to go onto the site and review vocabulary terms and play games. Quizlet is very helpful learning tool for ALL students.
I love this program and have been using it for a couple of years now by putting the vocabulary review terms onto the site. The students love it because it helps them with their homework. The students find they don't have to take their books home to review for a test because the vocabulary terms are already available to them through Quizlet. Quizlet is great for ELL, low literacy, and special needs students because they are able to have the vocabulary words read to them out loud which is very beneficial in helping them to retain the information. The games that are available for the students to play keep them interested because the students want to beat the timers. Quizlet is free and it is one of the most valuable tools that I've used in my 15 years of teaching.
