How I Use It
I have used Quizizz to conduct reading checks for class novels, to review punctuation concepts, and to assess students' knowledge of homophones. Basically any assignment with multiple choice questions can be made more engaging with Quizizz. I use Quizizz as an alternative to Kahoot! because Quizizz allows teachers to review reports once students are done, so I can easily find out which questions students missed most and adjust my instruction appropriately. The reports also allow me to look at how each student did, so I can quickly see who has grasped a concept and who has not.
The feedback I receive in the reports from Quizizz is invaluable to me. I use the reports to drive my instruction because they help me quickly determine what topics need to be retaught and which students need to receive more instruction WITHOUT me doing the grading by hand.
Plus, Quizizz turns boring skill practice into engaging skill practice. Students like the competitive aspect of Quizizz, but because students can work at their own pace, students do not feel rushed or overwhelmed as they complete their work. My students are excited when they see that we are doing Quizizz in class, and they often enjoy themselves while working on traditionally unenjoyable topics (i.e. grammar).
The one thing I would like to see added to Quizizz is the ability to create types of questions other than multiple choice. It would be nice to have more options.
