How I Use It
Quill could be a valuable tool to substitute or augment the grammar workbook. Students tend to be more engaged by online activities that give feedback than paper-and-pencil exercises, but the content is ultimately the same. It would be ideal for use as a station in class, as a time-filler when students need some extra practice, or as a homework assignment.
My Take
Quill is a very simple tool, and this has pros and cons. Students aren't doing anything differently than they would be doing in a grammar workbook. Students get immediate feedback when they make errors, which is helpful, but the feedback that they get isn't so great - they are told that they have made a mistake, but not what they should do to fix it next time. Teachers are able to see students' progress in a snapshot, but not the timing and performance stats that are given on other practice websites. More robust feedback and more features for teachers would really make Quill shine.
