How I Use It
I use Quia in my classroom regularly. It is an excellent tool for creating review activities prior to tests and quizzes. It is also great for assessments. Quizzes can easily be created. Once students log in to Quia with the class codes you have assigned, students can take quizzes and the results are sent to you instantly. The result information can be sorted so that you can see which questions work best and you can see where students have struggled. After you allow it in the quiz settings, students can have the option of retaking the quiz until they reach a score that you feel is proficient. The review games are great for vocabulary and basic recall. Another benefit is that you can use pre-created activities and quizzes from other teachers. There is a search feature that allows you to find exactly what you're looking for. I have also used Quia to survey parents. I have sent parents different surveys regarding activities in my classroom to get their feedback. Survey responses are very easy to sort and organize.
I really enjoy using Quia and I find it very simple to create neat activities and games. I do think that the difficulty level is most appropriate for average and struggling learners. The activities tend to be too simplistic for my advanced learners. I like having the option of assigning activities or just providing students with a link so that they can chose to complete extra practice if needed. Quia is very user friendly. Some grade book programs allow you to export your class lists directly into Quia. I really appreciate the survey ability of Quia. It helps me collect information from parents, teachers and students quickly and efficiently.
