How I Use It
As I constantly tell anyone who will listen...my students and I LOVE Prodigy! This is a part of my DAILY math instruction in my second grade classroom. I do all of my math instruction in small groups in my classroom and Prodigy is one of our daily three rounds! I love that I can go into the PLANNER and create assignments that will compliment what my students are working on and support them in their skill development. Sometimes I just have a couple of kiddos who need more work with a skill - so I go into the planner and create an assigment for them. Sometimes I have a group of kiddos who are needing enrichment or to be pushed further, and again I can create an assignment for them. Sometimes I simply want to see how my whole class is handling a concept, so I create an assigment that assesses their overall understanding. Then, I can use those results to inform my next assignments. My students get a much richer math experience in my room because I have the ability to use Prodigy to its fullest!
My Take
My students have consistently shown greater growth on NWEA MAP tests in math since I began my blended instructional model, including Prodigy in my daily math instruction. Prodigy allows me to meet each student where he or she is and continue his or her skill development, as well as to provide practice and review of what we have already worked on in our small groups. I could not possibly met all of the needs of my students on my own, but Prodigy allows me to ensure my students are getting what they need!
