How I Use It
Prezi is an amazing tool that has multiple applications for both students and staff. It is my go to all round favorite! I use this to as a multi-sensory hook for a lesson. I also use it to embed layers of information with text, images and video. The zooming effect captures and keeps attention during presentations. I like that is is child friendly. I like that my students from 2nd to 5th grade are able to quickly navigate and understand Prezi's format. There are many colorful and diverse templates available for quick presentation creation. I didn't like that sometimes loading pictures take a while and advance panning options are not immediate to learn. In addition, it is annoying that Prezi continually changes the layout and moves its function keys.
Overall, I am a fan of Prezi. I have created a Prezume, which is a great way to stand out from the crowd when delivering your resume for that coveted job. Children love to view Prezis during lessons and better still, they truly enjoy using it to insert their writing and present their content knowledge. Prezi serves educators well by providing plenty of examples from an international and very fluid digital community. One way it could serve kids better is to include more student created examples, rather than just adult examples. All in all, Prezi is a toolbox gem!!!
