How I Use It
I use prezi at the beginning of the school year to introduce myself and the procedures of my class to my students. I have had the students create tutorials, all about me's, unit study, etc...
First the student would view the videos about Prezi on Prezi before I introduce the website (flip classroom type). As they view the video, either I would ask a question or two or have them come to class with at least three questions about the video. We would have the discussion and the class would answer the questions the students handed in. They would then go to EXPLORE look at the Prezi that are already on the site. The students would choose a Prezi and critique it. Then I would show the ones from previous students and compare them. We will talk about the similarity and the difference, what they would do different and we they would had. Then I would have student model and/or talk about the steps in creating a Prezi.
The students seem to love Prezi more than PowerPoint. Prezi allows the students to be more creative. The majority of the time when I give students a choice between PowerPoint and Prezi, they always chose Prezi. Prezi allows the students and teachers to access Prezi on more than one device, so you are not tired down to one computer.
This website serve the kids better, because it is FREE. The students do not need to purchase anything to have access to their work at home. For the FREE unlimited version you need an school email account, but you can use the other version just plan ahead.
