How I Use It
One way I used PREZI was to create 24 weeks of academic vocabulary curriculum – using best practices for students who are in high-risk groups. PREZI is not just another PowerPoint slide; it is conceptual in nature and allows students to learn differently. My students looked forward to learning academic vocabulary interactively (each lesson rich with video, illustration, word family, definition, formative assessment, think-pair-share/write-pair-share activities, and practice opportunities) whole group. Another way I used PREZI in the class was to create and model an “All About Me” at the beginning of the year. By doing so, I taught students how to use PREZI and gave students an assignment to create their own “All About Me” PREZI which they later embedded into their personal portfolio website.
I believe it is a fantastic teaching tool in that it is highly engaging, provides visual access to conceptual thinking and creates exceptional visual ties to cross-curricular examination. The collaborative nature of PREZI allows for one classroom to work with another.
