How I Use It
This was used for a classroom project to help have our students work with 2nd grade students research on their IPads for a solar system project. The material was easy for them to find and the app is very easy for 6,7 and 8 year-olds to move in and out of very easily. The only draw back was that some non-fiction material was not updated. For example, one student was completing a project on Neptune and it still reported that there was 13 moons, which was updated almost a year ago. This can be a drawback for young kids as they tend to "hold grudges" when they are given "misinformation",
The colorful nature of the app, immediately draws the kids in. It is super user friendly and easy to move in and out and search for information for children of all ability levels. It allows children to begin the concept of non-fiction on their own without the assistance of an adult, the material is truly written at a level that all kids can reach. Again, the drawback seemed that some of the scientific facts were not updated. Considering that it has access to the internet, I would hope that the would update basic scientific facts in order to keep the app viable.
