How I Use It
PBS Learning provides vast resources on various topics with amazing materials to back up teachers in their instruction of each topic. With their collect on the United States Civil Rights Movement teachers will find a wealth of videos, audio clips, and other primary and secondary source documents that can be implemented into their existing lessons or units on the topic. These materials can easily be distributed to the students for whole-class, small group, or individual work in and/or out of the classroom.
My Take
The amount of primary and secondary source documents available dealing with the Civil Rights Movement in the United States is a testament to the changing technologies of the time. We were able to catch more events on both film (photo and video) and audio than we had previously. By compiling these resources together in this collection, it makes it much easier for teachers to find materials that can be used to supplement their classroom activities and/or assignments. When used in conjunction with the other topics PBS Learning has curated, this provides a tremendous tool to help any teacher in their classroom with supplemental material.
