How I Use It
Noredink.com replaces the need for worksheets for grammar drill and practice. Our entire school started to use this online program for lessons, practice, differentiation, and assessment. One aspect that connected students was the initial questions the program asks them about their interests in movies, celebrities, music, and hobbies. When students proceed through the practice, the sentences and questions are personalized with this information. Besides the personalization based on interests, the sentences have humor within exercises that middle schoolers especially enjoy. Engagement is key when asking this age group to learn grammar.
The dashboard is another positive. It is easy to have students add themselves to your class with a code. Through the dashboard, the teacher can monitor progress, determine proficiency, assign more practice as well as final assessments. If one student needs more practice, this can be easily assigned. The dashboard is easy to use and navigate.
Noredink has been the piece I was looking for in practicing grammar. It is unique because it is individualized for each student based on their interests. The dashboard is easy to use, allowing the teacher to assign specific areas as well as individualize for more help if needed. The assignments break down into separate areas and even groups your students on their level of proficiency. The one downfall is that it is difficult to find out the price for a pro license. Some of the skills are blocked and can only be accessed if you have a pro license. Unfortunately, you need to call the company for a price. I would have liked the prices listed on the site, especially if an individual teacher wanted the pro license and not an entire school.
