How Can Teachers Use It?

Matific's Kindergarten Games are a collection of approximately 70 activities and more than 20 practice sheets covering four Common Core-related categories: Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, and Geometry. Each game set is focused on a specific basic math skill so you can choose games based on exactly what your students need.

It's important to know that there’s little in the way of built-in explicit instruction, as the games are meant to inspire kids' inquiry. Depending on your students, you could use the games as an intro activity, or introduce and teach new concepts first and then use the games for practice or assessment. The practice sheets might be especially useful for assessment, testing prep, or even as a diagnostic tool. Although there's audio, much of the game instruction is text-dependent or not readily accessible. Especially at the kindergarten level, be ready to help your students navigate the site and figure out how to play.
