How I Use It
I use this program every day in my Algebra class. The students have a Course Workbook where they take notes. It is nice because it keeps the students engaged in the lesson. Some are just fill in the blanks which helps them stay focused. Most of my students struggle in Math, so they are less likely to stay engaged. These lessons allow them to stay focused. Algebra Nation also has videos by multiple tutors for every lesson. They have tutors that are for advanced students to special needs students. They even have a Spanish speaking tutor! On their website, they have so much additional material. This program could be used for students who are distance learners. They have a Test Yourself! at the end of every section and a Check Yourself at the end of every lesson. These are online and the students can take them as many or as few times as you allow. These assessments are concise, yet allow the students ample practice. The Test Yourself! even has solution videos the students can watch so they are given immediate feedback.
You can also assign videos and have the students watch them when you have a substitute. This is a great way to keep the students on track.
There are a couple of lessons that I do need to get some extra practice, but again, I teach the students who struggle in Math so they sometimes need rote practice.
I have taught Math (mostly Algebra) for 19 years in three different states and seven different schools and this is by far the best program I have ever used. I like the order the lessons are taught and I love the different assessments the program offers. My students are engaged and actually enjoy Math!
