How I Use It
This site is offered by Google, I use it to introduce students to programming careers by first showing and discussing the videos. The videos are under both the Mentors and Makers tabs. They are short and show a good variety of fields and interests. The students practice coding using a language called Blockly (under the Projects tab). The projects have good instructions and are easy to manipulate. The Resources tab has links to other projects using more complex programming languages.
This is a very good site for introducing students to concepts and careers of basic programming. You need to make sure you have school access to YouTube to show the videos. I have seen some of the Blockly projects appear on Google's home page. Blockly is easy to use and understand. Even though the site is geared toward female students (all the videos have female presenters) it is also good information for male students.
