How I Use It
I use legends of learning in different ways. Most of the time I use it for Do Now review from the previous lesson/ day or an Exit ticket quick data for after a lesson. I don't use it in the middle of a lesson (check for understanding) because it can take a while to log in and load. I have a few (4-5: 154) who can't log on because their chromebook crash so they work with a partner. I don't think that is a software problem but more of a storage on their chromebook problem.
My Take
Most kids love it. I have a few who just do it because I assign it. I have them doing it for review and new content right now while we are doing virtual learning. They are all very eager to get in and learn/ play. The amount of emails I get when they can't get in is disheartening. The growth and data that I get from ELLs and low literacy scholars are fantastic! Legends (that what my students call it) has really helped in bridging a lot of gaps. In general the students have really taken to the experience. Before a unit test, whole classes ask for me to launch target practice so they can review the days prior to the test. I also teach an intervention class for 8th grade math. We have incorporated Legends of Learning into that as well. After we review content, I assign targeted content to areas of weakness and watch the data grow into strengths. I love to play the games prior to assigning them for 2 reasons: 1. experience and 2. I love games. The games are very relatable in terms of graphics. They look like what we download on our devices as well as virtual phets (labs). At the same time relating content to the experience.
