How I Use It
I use LearnZillion's videos as the framework to a lesson. The videos give a nice overview of a standard and can be paused for added instruction and discussion. It is easy to tab back and forth between the video and a Smartboard slide for sample problems. I also post the links to some videos on my website or in Google Classroom. These are great for students to refer to when doing homework or teaching their parents how we solved a particular math problem in class! Advanced learners can be given videos to watch for independent learning as well.
Overall, I think this website is very organized, easy to navigate, and offers quality video tutorials. I have been using it for several years (predominantly in math) and have only come across a few videos that I did not find satisfactory. I especially like being able to preview the slides that are covered in the video, as opposed to having to watch the entire thing. This feature allows me to select a smaller number of videos to preview before showing them to the class. My students use the videos to review a lesson when completing homework or studying for a test. Parents also appreciate having a guide for some of the newer common core standards. Overall, a great teaching support tool!
